Exercise Structure: A 3-day, 5 Ops Period Day SAR IMT Simulation
This exercise is designed to provide hands-on experience in SAR IMT operations, allowing participants to observe and engage in real-world scenarios. By cycling through various positions and observing the dynamic nature of the team, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of IMT roles and responsibilities.
Mentors: Experienced IMT members who will guide and provide feedback to participants.
Credentialed Members: Individuals with specific certifications or qualifications who will fill key positions.
Open Task Book Members: Participants who will rotate through various positions, gaining experience in different operational functions.
Shadow: Individuals who will observe the operations of the IMT without actively participating.
Day 1: Initial Incident and Planning
OPS Period 1: Incident Activation - Friday Day OPS
Activate the IMT and establish initial command structure.
Conduct initial situation assessment and develop a preliminary incident action plan (IAP).
OPS Period 2: Resource Allocation - Friday Night OPS
Identify and request necessary resources, including personnel, equipment, and facilities.
Assign resources to appropriate operational functions.
Day 2: Incident Operations and Logistics
OPS Period 3: Search and Rescue Operations - Saturday Day OPS
Conduct search and rescue operations, including ground, air, K9, and water operations.
Coordinate with field teams and provide logistical support.
OPS Period 4: Incident Stabilization - Saturday Night OPS
Implement strategies to stabilize the incident and mitigate potential hazards.
Develop a transition plan for transferring incident responsibilities.
Day 3: Incident Demobilization and After-Action Review
OPS Period 5: Demobilization and AAR - Sunday Day OPS
Demobilize the IMT and release resources.
Conduct an after-action review to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement.
